Axyal propeller rig

A powerful state of the art electric propulsion unit was developed to refine the axial flux motor technology for earonautic EVTOL applications!
  • Motor mount welding

    After a period of thorough simulations (mechanical/thermal/EM etc), a propeller rig frame was designed and the required parts were sourced. Here we TIG welded the motor mounting frame.

  • Propeller cage assembly

    A large propeller cage was designed and welded for safety during th initial testing period.

  • Test stand assembly

    Also the full steel test stand was assembled and welded.

  • 1500mm propeller

    The awe-inspiring carbon propeller was delivered, and work on the gearbox could begin.

  • Motor and gearbox assembly

    Assembly and initial testing of the power unit including gearbox was done in order to validate the mechanical, thermal, NVH and EM characteristics.

  • Finalising the prop test rig

    The complete power unit was mounted on the test rig and a series of succesful full-power test were carried out.

  • Testing completed

    The project was succesfully concluded and the required testing data was acquired!
